Leveraging artificial intelligence to detect the leading cause of infertility, a condition which millions of women don’t know they have.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

A three-letter word that has impacted the lives and future of millions of women and girls worldwide.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS, is a condition that not only affects a woman’s ovaries, but the outcome of her life.

PCOS doesn’t just affect a select group of individuals. Nearly 6 to 12% of women have PCOS, meaning that at least 5 million women in the United States alone are affected by it.

PCOS is the most common endocrine…

Every year, over 130,000 women in the United States itself are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and over 4,000 of these women will die from it.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer for women worldwide, but because it develops over time, it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer.

Although a wide range of factors can put an individual at risk for cervical cancer, we do not have a standard method to diagnose a woman who is at risk for cervical cancer.

For example, if we know that a woman who takes oral contraception…

I remember sitting in my 8th grade English class as we were all going around one day, naming a family member for whom we were grateful. I remember the boy who raised his hand shyly and shared that he was grateful for his mom, who had been battling breast cancer.

After he shared his mother’s story, multiple other people shared the name of their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and close family members that had breast cancer.

It was an eye-opening experience. Until then, I had not realized how prevalent breast cancer was.

About 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast…

Men are from Mars, and Women are from Venus.

In one of the most famous books of the past few decades, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, John Gray utilized this metaphor to describe the various psychological differences between those who identify as male, and those who identify as female. In doing so, Gray’s book provided insight in order to help partners improve their relationships.

However, psychological differences aren’t the only ones that persist.

When we think of individuals who identify as male, and then those who identify as female, we automatically think of differences within physical features…

Decision-making bombards our daily lives with an unfathomable pressure at any given second. Whether they are simple decisions, such as which shirt you prefer, to life-changing ones, like moving to another country.

On any given day, the average adult makes 35,000 remotely conscious decisions. While we don’t necessarily act upon all of them, our internal dialogue is constantly running within our conscious and subconscious minds, even when we are least aware of it.

From decisions surrounding our food to our future to the very next word coming out of our mouth, our internal monologues consist of a never-ending fabrication of…

Improving the diagnosis of reproductive disorders, allowing millions of women healthier, happier, and more productive lives.

Blood all over your underwear. Cramps so bad you nearly pass out. Terrible nausea, awful migraines, and constant fatigue.

This probably doesn’t sound unfamiliar to most women.

The trauma that has been inflicted on all women in some regard is something we will never be able to forget. The unbearable pain, unlike anything we’ve experienced, is incomparable.

It has scarred millions of women and girls all over the world, both emotionally and physically.

Women and girls in modern society are accustomed to the insurmountable…

The world is in chaos. And I don’t think I’m the only one who has noticed.

For the first time decades, society is collectively focused on a singular issue. In a state it has never been in before.

Together, we are fighting an issue that is impacting the lives of every single one of the individuals on this planet to a previously unfathomable degree.

For myself and many of my peers, this year has simply been a blip in our lives.

“Remember 2020 when we couldn’t go to school and were bored all the time? …

“Any society that is silencing its women has no future”

-Hafsat Abiola

Since the start of humanity, women have been pioneers of the unknown. Championing social change, spearheading reform, and making priceless contributions to society in all aspects of society, from medicine to astrology.

Yet, recent research shows that only women’s stories make up just 0.5 percent of recorded history.

Why are women hidden in the shadows? Why are there so many women of whom we know nothing about despite their contributions being an integral aspect to the structure and function of society?

In honor of Women’s History Month, I…

One noun and two suffixes. A frequently heard term, yet barely understood.

A word that is often seen as the unproportional privilege of minorities. A theory of victimization. A label that tells you what you’re allowed to say and think.

But it isn’t the term itself that has caused the controversy that it has brought about; rather, many object to the implications and consequences of this concept, afraid of the new racial and cultural hierarchy some individuals believe it promotes.

Intersectionality does not call for victimization nor for the development of a new racial hierarchy. …

At the time that this post is being written, 2.4 million individuals have died from COVID-19, with another 109 million currently infected due to a lack of effective curative or fully preventative measures.

After battling the chaos of mask-wearing, hand-sanitizing, and staying 6 feet apart from one another for the last year, we have now been presented with the advent of a vaccine. Now, we must continue to uphold these measures while facing the challenges of strategic, equitable, and privacy-preserved ways for last-mile vaccine distribution.

In order to achieve such distribution, vaccine recipients must be prioritized to…
